Last month, there were rumors that a new version of Nintendo’s DS handheld gaming device was on its way. Today, IGN learned that the rumor is most likely true, and that we should be seeing the new version by April or May of next year.
Rumored changes include touchpad functionality on both screens, and a wider screen aspect ratio. There is no word yet on whether the next version will just be a revision, or a completely new DS. Meanwhile, Sony is already on it’s third version of it’s PSP console.
Here are some user mockups of what the new DS might look like:

Looks like two iphones smashed together. I also heard that there will be an SD card slot and of course they said that there will also be better graphics. They said the screens on it will be a little bit bigger than the PSPs screens. I am not so sure about both screens being touch sensitive though. I’ve never heard that before, and if nintendo did do that, then ds developers would have to completely redo all there games and engines.

it looks really cool. if this actually comes out i’m buying it. the bigger screens are really good as sometimes the screen for the old ds could get frustrating. also i hope that the screen for this 1 doesn’t scratch as easily.

it was cropped or photoshoped with some software, if you look at the pictureof the ds were the stylus is touching the screen, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc, place rankings are the numbers are more cut off than a normal Mario Kart game,

I got my Nintendo Dsi in black, but now I regret taking the black one.
