A development source told CVG that the 2.5 Playstation firmware will have a screen grabbing feature. Screen grabbing allows you to take a snapshot of what the PS3 is currently playing on screen, something that has been a standard feature on the PC for years.
It is still unknown how the snapshots will be handled. There are a few possibilities: 1) Take it and upload it to an online service. 2) Store it on the hard-drive 3) A combination of options 1 and 2.
We’re glad to see Sony being proactive in adding new features for their free service. Although the 2.5 firmware has yet to be announced officially we’re certain this is one of the features that it will be bundled with.
