Today, Ubisoft officially announced the release date for Far Cry 2 in Europe. They also confirmed the Collectors Edition.
Today, Ubisoft announced that Far Cry® 2 will be released on October 24th throughout all EMEA territories on the 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Windows® PC.
To celebrate the release of Far Cry® 2, Ubisoft is happy to unveil the Far Cry® 2 Collectors’ Edition that will include:
- Exclusive wooden box
- Original Far Cry® 2 Game
- Limited edition Far Cry® 2 t-shirt
-“The Art of Far Cry® 2” Art book
- Collector 50km² map
- Making-of DVD

Apparently. Europe is more important than the US to Ubisoft, European developer. “First, our money - the pound or the euro - is very strong and because of that the turnover from those countries is heavier than they used to be.” Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot tells GamesIndustry.biz. In addition the the strength of the Euro, Ubisoft claims Europe has a 5 percent lead over the US. “So for Ubisoft turnover Europe is actually more important than the US now, and by more than 5 per cent. It’s become a very strong market for us.” Guillemot also attributes Europe’s success due to the new accessibility of games.
“I think there are lots of customers that want to play - because in Europe we love to play - the only problem we had was that the games were becoming more and more difficult to play. Now that there’s more accessibility, some accessories that are helping people to have fun, I think this market has no limit in the growth it can have if we can make sure that the people that are coming in are staying.”
