Apple Donates $100,000 To Fight Prop 8

applethumb Apple Donates $100,000 To Fight Prop 8Today, Apple officially announced it opposed Proposition 8 in California. To show their support for equal rights among gay and straight couples, Apple has donated $100,000 to fight Proposition 8, which would ban same sex marriage in California. Just earlier this year the California Supreme Court ruled that same sex marriage is to be legal in California.

No on Prop 8

October 24, 2008

Apple is publicly opposing Proposition 8 and making a donation of $100,000 to the No on 8 campaign. Apple was among the first California companies to offer equal rights and benefits to our employees’ same-sex partners, and we strongly believe that a person’s fundamental rights — including the right to marry — should not be affected by their sexual orientation. Apple views this as a civil rights issue, rather than just a political issue, and is therefore speaking out publicly against Proposition 8.

More info on Prop 8:

Proposition 8 is a proposed amendment to the California constitution which if passed into law would be known as the California Marriage Protection Act. This California ballot proposition will appear on the November 4, 2008 ballot along with eleven other statewide propositions. Proposition 8 is one of four ballot measures which propose to amend the California state constitution and appears on the ballot titled as Eliminates Right of Same-Sex Couples to Marry.

If it passes, it will add a new constitutional amendment to the California Constitution that will say “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California” and it will be known in law as the California Marriage Protection Act.

I think it is great that Apple Supports this. I always that it was so stupid that people were fighting against it. I mean if 2 guys or 2 girls want to marry each other, Why should we give a F*ck about it.

Well done APPLE! You don’t have to be gay to oppose this ridiculous bill…I for one am a straight man who supports equal rights for everybody! You don’t even have to agree or approve of gay people(though I don’t understand what the big deal is…they are people just like me and you in every way). People need to quit being homophobic and stand up for equal rights for everyone!

Its great to see businesses stand behind politics so strongly. I like to follow my political news on my mobile phone and i’m thinking about an upgrade. I especially like the Motorola Krave right now. It has a crystal clear touch screen and full html web browser. I’ve liked it ever since I started working with Motorola. Has anyone else seen it online at motorola.com/krave? It’s awesome!

Well, I will now never buy anything from Apple again… I don’t support this, and as soon as we start supporting this we will start supporting Bestiality, and then from that point on where are we going to stop it?
